Which holidays fall next to a weekend?

2026. On a Monday or Friday: Easter Monday (Orthodox) (Monday 13 April), 1 May (Friday 1 May), Christmas Day (Friday 25 December). On a Saturday or Sunday: Dormition of the Mother of God (Saturday 15 August), 26 December (Saturday 26 December).

2027. On a Monday or Friday: New Year's Day (Friday 1 January), Easter Monday (Orthodox) (Monday 3 May). On a Saturday or Sunday: Dormition of the Mother of God (Sunday 15 August), Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December), 26 December (Sunday 26 December).

What the source says. In 2027, 1 May falls on Holy Saturday, so the Labour Minister moves it to another working day; that date has not been set yet. The minister can add up to five more holidays a year, and regional governors can set local ones.

How busy were the holiday months in 2025?

Each month's share of Greece's tourist nights (Eurostat, 2025), as on our Greece page, next to the 2026 holidays in that month. The figures do not show that holidays make a month busier or quieter, so we do not say they do.
