TL;DR
We put the national holiday lists we publish for 33 European countries and Japan into one calendar for 2026 and 2027, with school holidays for France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and 14 German states. The 2026 date on the most lists: Thu 1 January 2026, on 34 of the 34.
Whose holidays are in this calendar?
Each country's list is the one on its own page, taken from its law or an official list. The lists do not all cover the same thing, so read the notes: some are bank holidays, some are days off, and some countries have more holidays in some regions.12
What each list covers

What this calendar cannot tell you
- Not every day off. Regional and local holidays, bridge days and replacement days are mostly not here; the country pages say which exist.
- School holidays for four countries only, 2026–27, from the education authorities: France (by zone), the Netherlands (by region, some dates only advised), Luxembourg, and 14 of Germany's 16 states.
- No causes. Weather and holidays sit next to the tourism figures here, but the figures do not show that either makes a month busier or quieter, so we do not say they do.
- Check before you travel. Governments can add or move holidays; the country pages show when we last checked each list.
