How much snow falls in each Japanese prefecture?

TL;DR

In the Japan Meteorological Agency's 1991–2020 normals, the most snow falls in a year at Aomori's station, 青森 (567 cm), then Hokkaido's, 札幌 (479 cm), and Yamagata's, 山形 (285 cm).327 These are city weather stations, one per prefecture, not ski areas, and the table below gives all 47.

How much snow falls a year at each prefecture's station?

Yearly normals for 1991–2020 at one weather station per prefecture: the total depth of snowfall in a year, the deepest snow on the ground, and the number of days with snow.2 Values are printed exactly as the agency prints them.

What these figures cannot tell you

One station stands for a whole prefecture, and stations are mostly in cities: mountains and ski areas in the same prefecture can get far more snow. The figures are averages for 1991–2020, not a forecast for any winter.
