National parks of Slovakia: all 9

TL;DR

Slovakia has 9 national parks in the open data of the State Nature Conservancy and the Statistical Office, and the Conservancy's website gives the same number. We give the full names as the Statistical Office publishes them, which do not all include the words národný park, and the short titles the Conservancy uses.123

Which national parks are listed?

The Conservancy's data on large protected areas has 9 national parks, besides protected landscape areas and national park buffer zones.1 The Statistical Office's table lists the same 9 under Národné parky.2 The Conservancy's website says 9 national parks had been declared by the end of 2025.3

Can this list be reused?

The national data catalogue gives both datasets the CC BY 4.0 licence code for the author's work and the database.12 Neither publisher sets its own wording for the credit, so we name both datasets.

Key takeaways

  • Slovakia has 9 national parks in the open data.
  • Names are as the Statistical Office publishes them; not all include národný park.
  • TANAP and PIENAP are the Conservancy's short titles.
  • What we would skip: reading the list as a ranking or a travel guide. It records an official designation; it says nothing about opening, access or conditions, so check each park's own information before you go.
