The Nature Conservation Agency of Latvia's register of specially protected nature areas has 4 national parks: Ķemeru, Slīteres, Rāznas and Gaujas Nacionālais parks. We give the names exactly as the register writes them, and leave out its dates, which are placeholders rather than the years the parks were created.1
Which national parks does the register list?
The register's areas are coded by category; 4 carry the national park code, and each is named Nacionālais parks.1
National park (as the register writes it)
---
Ķemeru Nacionālais parks
Slīteres Nacionālais parks
Rāznas Nacionālais parks
Gaujas Nacionālais parks
The names are in Latvian, in the form the register uses; the register gives no English names, so we add none.
Why are there no years?
The register has a field for the date an area was set up, but every value for these parks falls on the first day of a year, and for at least one it is the year the area was first protected rather than the year it became a national park. We leave the dates out rather than print them as founding years.

What this page cannot tell you
- No regions or dates here. See above for why we leave the dates out.
- The register changes. This is the register as published when we checked it.

Key takeaways
- Latvia's register lists 4 national parks.
- The names are exactly as the register writes them, in Latvian.
- We leave out the register's dates because they are placeholders.
- What we would skip: reading the list as a ranking or a travel guide. It records an official designation; it says nothing about opening, access or conditions, so check each park's own information before you go.
